About the collective
Hi Zine & Print is a Honolulu-based collective of zine-makers and photographers, dedicated to getting work off our hard drives and out into the world.
The collective was founded by James Knudsen and Shane Sakata.
How we meet
We meet bimonthly, in person or over Zoom. Meetings are round-table discussions on photography, zine-making, and exhibitions — members bring work in progress, printed proofs, and questions about production, sequencing, and getting a title finished.
Where we show
We appear annually at Contemporary Photography in Hawai‘i, held at the Downtown Art Center in Chinatown. In 2026 our table showed 27 zine titles from 17 independent Hawaii makers.
